NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe and astronaut Michael T. Good will visit Lorain Middle School, a NASA Explorer School, this week to share the agency’s new vision for space exploration with the next generation of explorers.

When: Wednesday, March 17, 1:45 p.m.

Who: NASA Administrator Sean O’Keefe and astronaut Michael T. Good

Where: Lorain Middle School, 602 Washington Avenue, Lorain

“Right now, tomorrow’s space explorers are seated in America’s classrooms -asking questions, solving problems and conducting experiments,” O’Keefe said. “As we work to carry NASA’s new vision forward, we remain committed to working closely with our schools to foster learning environments that will inspire young people to venture to the Moon, to Mars and beyond.”

During their visit, O’Keefe and Good will talk with students about our destiny as explorers, NASA’s stepping-stone approach to exploring Earth, the Moon, Mars and beyond, how space impacts our lives, and how people and machines rely on each other in space.

Ohio native Michael T. Good was selected as a mission specialist by NASA in 2000 and was assigned technical duties in the Astronaut Office Advanced Vehicles Branch after completing two years of training and evaluation. He will serve in technical assignments until assigned to a space flight.

Members of the media are invited to cover the visit to Lorain Middle School. There will be a media availability following the program. Media representatives interested in arranging interviews with O’Keefe in conjunction with his visit to the school, please contact Sallie Keith of the Glenn Research Center Media Relations Office at 216-433-5795 or 216-308-0801 (cell).
