– There’s a new hero blasting off… and he’s just your average Joe –

Lynx is giving one guy or girl the chance to go where only a few elite have gone before, by offering the chance to win an ultimate out-of-this-world experience: a trip to space. In the biggest product launch in its 30-year history, the global competition was announced by space hero Buzz Aldrin, who has revealed details of the Lynx Space Academy.

To mark the launch of this epic adventure and the first big brand launch of 2013, Lynx astronauts arrived in the UK today along with an exact replica of the epic Lynx SXC (Space Expedition Corporation) space shuttle which the winner will travel to space in. Weighing in at a massive 1.5 tonnes and the width of three double decker buses, the shuttle will be on display for the first time in the UK at Westfield White City on the 12th and 13th January.

To find out more about L.S.A., Britons are urged to tune into their televisions tonight from 9pm , where the exciting news of the campaign will be beamed across all commercial channels marking the start of a truly epic year for the UK and for Lynx.

By joining L.S.A. at LynxApollo.com, UK guys and girls will have a chance to compete for one of 22 global tickets to travel to space, on a flight with international space agency SXC. Guys can sign up for the L.S.A. by creating their astronaut profile on LynxApollo.com and telling the world why they deserve to go to space.

Top-voted candidates will qualify for the Lynx Space Academy challenge weekend, held this summer, where they will be challenged to a number of physical and mental NASA style challenges. The four strongest candidates will then be flown to the Lynx Global Space Camp in Orlando, Florida to experience what it’s really like to be an astronaut in the final series of challenges. Only one lucky winner will secure their place to go to space in 2014 – leaving earth a man, returning a hero.

“Space travel for everyone is the next frontier in the human experience,” said Buzz Aldrin, legendary astronaut and pilot of the historic Apollo 11 spacecraft that landed on the moon in 1969. “I’m thrilled that Lynx is giving the young people of today such an extraordinary opportunity to experience some of what I’ve encountered in space.”

“The Lynx Apollo launch is the biggest and most ambitious in the Lynx brand’s history,” said Mark Aschmann, Lynx brand manager. “For the first time, we’re simultaneously launching one global competition in over 75 countries offering millions of people the opportunity to win the most epic prize on earth. A trip to space – yes, actual space.”

Sign up for a chance to go to space by joining L.S.A. at LynxApollo.com. While competing, guys can also enjoy the scent of a hero with the new Apollo product range, which is currently available at retailers nationwide.
