CNES was deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of Albert Ducrocq, a leading figure of
the press who covered the adventures of the space era right from the outset, beginning with
the launch of the first Sputnik and Yuri GagarinÕs first spaceflight. Indeed, Albert Ducrocq was
the only French person ever to interview Gagarin.

His unforgettable voice provided commentary for all the milestone events that have marked the
space quest. His great knowledge of science was appreciated by all.

Albert Ducrocq was a man fired by a passion. He created the Cosmos Club de France and
remained active to the end, playing a distinguished role in stimulating French youngstersÕ
interest in space.
