Media Opportunity with Ohio Astronauts

CLEVELAND–Eight NASA astronauts will be available to answer questions from reporters at 10 a.m. on Aug. 29 in the Ontario Room at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center. They are among the group of astronauts who call Ohio home and are in town for the NASA 50th Anniversary Celebration Gala that evening.

Participating astronauts and their Ohio connections are:

  • Mark Brown, retired, born in Valparaiso, Indiana, now living near Dayton
  • Kenneth Cameron, active, born in Cleveland
  • Nancy Currie, active, born in Wilmington, Delaware, but considers Troy, Ohio her home
  • Michael Foreman, active, born in Columbus, now calls Wadsworth home
  • Terrence (Tom) Henricks, retired, born in Bryan, but considers Woodville home
  • Kevin Kregel, retired, born in Amityville, New York, made an honorary Ohioan by Governor George Voinovich prior to the flight of the “All Ohio Crew” of the space shuttle mission STS-70 in 1995
  • Donald Thomas, retired, born in Cleveland
  • Carl Walz, active/management, born in Cleveland
