WASHINGTON — The National Air and Space Museum and NASA will host a media screening of “Dynamic Earth: Exploring Earth’s Climate Engine” with NASA and museum experts available for interviews. The event will be held on Tuesday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m. EDT in the Albert Einstein Planetarium, located in the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, Seventh Street and Independence Avenue S.W. Washington.

Speakers:

* Greg Shirah, Visualizer, Scientific Visualization Studio, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center
* Sean O’Brien, Einstein Planetarium staff astronomer, National Air and Space Museum
The 24-minute, high resolution, fulldome show is narrated by actor Liam Neeson and illustrates how equilibrium between Earth’s climatic systems sustains life and what could happen if the balance is tipped.

“Dynamic Earth” plays daily in the Albert Einstein Planetarium at 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. EDT

A “Dynamic Earth” excerpt created by NASA data visualizers was recently selected for an annual conference that presents and publishes the best in computer graphics and technical research. The segment will be shown at the Association for Computer Machinery’s SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques) meeting. It is widely considered the most prestigious forum of its kind.

“Coronal Mass Ejection and Ocean/Wind Circulation” will also be published on July 19th as the 100th story on NASA Visualization Explorer iPad application. Interested media should RSVP to larai@si.edu or Aries.keck@nasa.gov.
