Media Advisory: Neil Armstrong Private Memorial Service Information

NEIL ARMSTRONG PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE INFORMATION

The Armstrong family will be holding a PRIVATE service in honor of Neil Armstrong Friday, August 31.

THIS SERVICE IS CLOSED TO THE MEDIA–WITH NO EXCEPTIONS

STAGING AREA AVAILABLE

SERVICE DETAILS:
Friday, August 31
11:00 a.m.

Attendance at the service is by invitation only

MEDIA INFORMATION:

* Media staging area will be located at Carmargo Stables, located across the street from the facility. There is a sign at its entrance.

* Still photos will be moved following the service by NASA photographer Bill Ingalls and posted at neilarmstonginfo.com. If you would like to be added to the distribution list, please notify Allison Ryan (see email below).

* Media will be allowed in the staging area beginning at 5:00 a.m. Friday morning. If you need other arrangements, please let us know and we will work to accommodate your request.

* Several attendees, including NASA Administrator Charles Bolden and former astronaut William (Bill) Anders, who was lunar module pilot for Apollo 8 (the first lunar orbit mission in 1968) will be available to speak with media in the media staging area following the service.

* A full program of speakers and details will be made available at the service.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

* Plans are underway to conduct a national service in Washington in the next two weeks.

* Armstrong Family statement regarding thanks for expressions of sympathy is attached.

***CAMARGO CLUB IS A PRIVATE FACILITY. MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA WILL NOT BE PERMITTED OUTSIDE THE STAGING AREA***

Only invited guests will be permitted on the property during the time of the service.

To everyone who has so graciously remembered Neil Armstrong:

The outpouring of condolences and kind wishes from around the world overwhelms us and we appreciate it more than words can express.

Many have asked if a memorial has been designated. If anyone wishes to make a memorial in his name, we suggest, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to one of these worthy organizations:
