MDA to provide a communications payload for the HYLAS 3 satellite

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed a contract valued at approximately CA$35 million with United Kingdom-based Avanti Communications Group plc to provide a Ka-band broadband communications payload solution for their HYLAS 3 satellite. HYLAS 3 will provide satellite data communications services covering Africa and the Middle East, and is expected to launch in 2015. The award of the HYLAS 3 payload to MDA is another testament to MDA`s leadership position in Ka-band multi-beam solutions.
