MDA expands RADARSAT-2 information solution with operational customer

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA), a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that it has signed two contracts in excess of $3 million (CAD) with Collecte Localisation Satellites (CLS), France, to provide RADARSAT data and ground information solutions.

Under the first contract, MDA will provide a RADARSAT ground information solution to be installed at La Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. This will be the third ground information solution provided to CLS from MDA, the other two are installed on Kerguelen Islands (2003) and in Brest, France (2009). This contract represents MDA’s eleventh RADARSAT-2 ground information solution.

The second contract extends the provision of RADARSAT-2 data information to CLS, that began in 2008, until mid-2012 to support the surveillance of the South Indian Ocean around the Heard and MacDonald Islands for the Australian Customs Service. The information is used in the detection of illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing ships.
