Kosmas to Discuss the Future of Florida’s Space Industry at the Lou Frey 2010 Fall Symposium

(Orlando, FL) – TODAY, Monday, September 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas (FL-24) will discuss the future of Florida’s space industry at the Lou Frey 2010 Fall Symposium at the University of Central Florida. Kosmas will participate in a panel discussion entitled “The Space Program: Florida and Beyond” with Frank DiBello, President and CEO of Space Florida.

The Lou Frey Institute of Politics and Government promotes the development of enlightened, responsible, and actively engaged citizens. The Lou Frey Institute Symposia are held in the fall and spring of each year and provide an opportunity for high school and college students to interact with local, state, and national leaders are they explore critical issues facing the state and the nation.

Suzanne Kosmas has fought tirelessly to support NASA and protect jobs on the Space Coast. She successfully amended the House NASA Reauthorization Bill to add an additional Shuttle mission to the current manifest, minimizing the spaceflight gap and easing the transition for Space Coast workers by extending the life of the Shuttle program through at least June of 2011. She has introduced the Human Spaceflight Capability Assurance and Protection Act, bipartisan legislation to maintain a robust human spaceflight program, minimize the spaceflight gap, and protect Space Coast jobs. She has also backed numerous measures to assist small businesses and support emerging industries to diversify the Space Coast economy.
