Keynoters Span the Globe – Otaki, Coffman, Rodota To Be Featured at International Space Symposium

Keynote speakers from across the
globe will be featured at the 2000 International Space Symposium to be held
October 24-26 at the Reagan Center in Washington.
Space Foundation officials
announced today that European Space Agency Director General Antonio Rodota has
committed to the symposium and will represent the European regional view in a
keynote presentation.

Rodota joins previously announced keynoters Vance Coffman, chairman, CEO
and president of Lockheed Martin, and Yasuo Otaki, president of the
Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications Council and president of TELEC-Japan.

The International Space Symposium is the companion event to the Space
Foundation’s National Space Symposium held annually in Colorado Springs.
The
international event focuses on the business aspects of the $100 billion (US)
global space industry.
Nearly 3000 participants attended the recently
completed 16th National Space Symposium.

Leading space agencies, organizations and companies from around the world
are joining the Space Foundation in supporting and sponsoring the symposium.

In addition to the keynoters, a special feature of the symposium will be a
luncheon presentation by noted futurist Dr. Michael Hawley, Dreyfoos Professor
of Media Technology, MIT Media Labs.

Numerous chief executive officers and heads of agency will also address
the International Space Symposium including: Dr. Achim Bachem, Executive
Board, German Space Agency (DLR); Alain Bensoussan, president of the French
National Space Agency (CNES) and president of the ESA Council; Guiliano
Beretta, director-general, Eutelsat; Armand Carlier, chairman Matra Marconi
Space; Lou Dobbs, chairman, Space.com; William “Mac” Evans, president,
Canadian Space Agency; Dr. Colin Hicks, director general, British National
Space Center; Prof. Sergio DeJulio, president, Italian Space Agency; Dr. K.
Kasturirangan, president, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO); Conny
Kullman, director general, Intelsat; Dr. Furuhama, executive director of the
