John D. Taylor has been named chief of the Exploration Systems Division in
the Programs and Projects Directorate at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in
Cleveland. The Exploration Systems Division — a group of 130 project
management, project integration and support personnel — leads the
implementation of Glenn’s efforts under NASA’s Exploration Systems Mission

Taylor replaces Jack Salzman who retired at the end of December 2004.

Taylor will oversee the work of several project offices including
Constellation Systems, Exploration Systems Research and Technology, Human
Health and Performance Systems, Life Support and Habitation, Nuclear
Technology and Demonstration, and Mission Operations and Integration. These
projects address national exploration priorities through research,
technology development and systems development capabilities for space

“Mr. Taylor will play a key role in placing Glenn’s exploration systems
projects on a critical path for realizing the vision for space exploration,”
said Glenn Director of Programs and Projects, Dr. Arun Sehra.

Taylor has been at Glenn for 22 years. Prior to his current assignment, he
served as chief of the Engineering Development Division for three years. In
that capacity, he was responsible for managing the in-house development
engineering and manufacturing performed at Glenn in support of the center’s
aeronautics and space projects, including Microgravity, International Space
Station, Space Transportation, and Vehicle Systems.
