International Space Symposium Panel Discusses Future of Satellite Internet
Toulouse, France (August 27, 2002) – The future of satellite Internet
and its services, obstacles and opportunities is the subject of a
unique space applications panel, “Internet 3:The Case for Space,” at
the International Space Symposium, scheduled September 10-13 in
Panelists, including a network solutions leader, a leader in advanced
digital fixed satellite systems and services and a noted futurist and
consultant will address the viability of near and long term satellite
Participating in “The Case for Space” are Hugh Arif, space initiatives
manager, Global Defense & Space Group, Cisco Systems, Inc.;
David Hartshorn, secretary general, Global VSAT Forum; and
Deborah Westphal, partner, Toffler Associates. The discussion will
include regulatory issues and the impact that the applications have
on business and society.
The panel, which takes place September 12, is part of the four-day
global forum on the international space industry. The International
Space Symposium also includes featured speakers, an international
exhibit center and several networking opportunities.
The Space Foundation conducts the International Space
Symposium in association with Space News and more than 30
participating agencies and supporting organizations. CNES is the
host national space agency.
