International Space Symposium Expands Agenda with Value-added Events

Washington, DC (August 14, 2000) – Several
supplemental events have been added to the
International Space Symposium program, as
announced today by Space Foundation officials.
The international gathering, which focuses on
business aspects of the $100 billion (US) global
space industry, will be held October 24-26, 2000
at the Reagan International Trade Center in
Washington, DC.
The Symposium is conducted by the Space
Foundation in association with the American
Astronautical Society (AAS). A number of
participating organizations and business
partners are offering special, value-added
seminars and events to Symposium participants:
Monday, October 23, 2000:
* Launchspace presents a Launchspace Seminar,
“Space Business: Facts and Fantasies 2000.” This
daylong seminar led by Dr. Marshall Kaplan takes
place at the Reagan Center, and covers current
trends and statistics in the global space
industry. Contact the Space Foundation to

* The Washington, D.C. Area Space Grant
Consortium hosts its quarterly dinner at the
Cosmos Club with featured speaker Daniel Goldin,
Administrator, NASA. Specifics to be announced
later.
Tuesday, October 24, 2000:
* The National Space Society (NSS) presents a
breakfast seminar, “Space Entrepreneurs: What’s
Up Next in Space,” 8:30-10:00 am at the Reagan
Center. The seminar includes panel discussions
and breakfast presentations with NSS staff and
space entrepreneurs. Contact NSS to register at

* The Space Transportation Association (STA)
hosts a panel discussion, “Space Launch Systems:
The Customers’ Perspective, ” from 10:00-11:30
am at the Reagan Center. The discussion led by
STA staff is free to Symposium registrants.

* International Technology and Trade Associates
(ITTA) presents a special focus seminar,
“Profiling the Telecommunications Infrastructure
of China: Opportunities for Access from Space,”
10:00-11:30 am in the Reagan Center. The expert
presentations led by ITTA staff are free to
Symposium participants. Contact the ITTA to

Friday, October 27, 2000:
* The International Space University will hold a
special meeting for U.S. resident alumni at the
Reagan Center. More information is available at

later.
