Mark your calendar and reserve October 4 – 8, 2004 to take part
in the Vancouver SpaceFest, a major gathering of the top space experts,
scientists, astronauts agencies and industry as they make Vancouver their
space port at the 55th Annual International Astronautical Congress. As part
of this international conference, an exciting public festival, featuring a
variety of space-related activities is being planned for people of all ages.
The Vancouver SpaceFest brings the wonders of the Cosmos closer to Earth
than you ever imagined!

On Thursday September 23, 2004 at 10:00 am, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre
is hosting a press conference to announce the exciting events being held in
Vancouver for the International Astronautical Congress and Vancouver
SpaceFest. Highlights of this event include a special “Space Week”
declaration from the Deputy Mayor of Vancouver and a live videoconference
with Marc Garneau, president of the Canadian Space Agency. A question and
answer period and the premiere of Powering the Future will follow the press
conference.

The International Astronautical Congress (IAC) is considered one of the most
prestigious events in its field, attracting the world’s leading
Astronautical and Space Science experts. Hosted this year by the Canadian
Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI), two thousand participants are
expected from over 45 countries for the 5-day event, which highlights a full
program of exciting and leading edge lectures, talks and presentations.

Through an ambitious IAC public outreach program, Vancouver SpaceFest offers
a chance for you to learn more about some of the latest developments in the
world of astronautics. Throughout the week, a variety of fun-filled and
