EMS Technologies, Inc. has announced today the successful
delivery of two switch modules to COM DEV International Ltd. for the ESSP
3/CloudSat mission, scheduled to launch in April 2004. The mission, which
will measure the properties of clouds to assess their effects on both weather
and climate, is sponsored by NASA, JPL and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).

EMS’ Space & Technology Group/Atlanta provided the Input Protection Switch
Module, which provides low-noise amplifier protection and calibration
switching for the CloudSat Cloud Profiling Radar. The Receiver is being
designed and manufactured by COM DEV under contract to the CSA.

“In providing this advanced 94 GHz switch, EMS continues to demonstrate
its leadership in the technology of millimeter-wave switching solutions. The
outstanding performance of EMS Ferrite-based Switch Modules is the enabler for
meeting the difficult noise figure requirements of the millimeter wave
subsystem,” said Todd Vaughn, director of EMS’ Ferrite Components business
area.

EMS routinely supplies ferrite-based switch assemblies to the most
demanding requirements including space, defense and other key scientific
missions such as Seawinds.
