WHAT:
If we lived in outer space, where would we sleep, how would we use
the bathroom and what would our rooms look like? Through the converging,
complimentary powers of television and the Internet, Discovery Health is
sending viewers out of this world to discover the effects outer space has on
the human body.
As Space Medicine launches at discoveryhealth.com, learn how
people will live and function in space stations.
This special online package
of content explains how astronauts maintain their physical and mental health
in the outer reaches of Earth’s atmosphere.
Moreover, NASA officials reveal
the one food item all astronauts want to eat while they are in space in a
feature called Cosmic Cuisine.

Examining the medical improvements research in space has brought to Earth,
Discovery Health Channel, in an innovative special Space Medicine, explores
the fascinating links between medical breakthroughs from the international
space program and their unique applications to gravity bound patients.
Viewers are taken to ground zero, the labs at NASA, providing a first-hand
look at the agency’s scientists in action.
Segments of the one-hour program
were produced on locations in the United States, Canada and England,
specifically focusing on people who have directly benefited from medical
firsts developed from research and technology first developed for NASA.
