CompTIA Announces New Space Enterprise Council Leadership

CompTIA, the world’s leading technology association, today announced the appointment of two new executive council members to its Space Enterprise Council (SEC).  

Matthew Jones, Director, C4ISR & Advanced Technology, Government Operations, The Boeing Company, will chair the council. Susan Nelson, Director of Government Affairs and Washington Operation, Aerojet Rocketdyne will serve as the new vice-chair.

“Our Executive Council helps formulate industry policy priorities that drive member-led initiatives to ensure the U.S. continues to be a leader in the space marketplace,” said David Logsdon, senior director, public advocacy, CompTIA.

In his role at Boeing, Jones leads support for C4ISR activities in the Washington, D.C. area, with a focus on the Electronics & Information Solutions Division. He provides focus on Position, Navigation, & Timing (PNT) pursuits, such as GPSIIF, OCS/OCX programs, Future GPS (GPS-III+, NAVSAT and Alternate GPS Payloads) campaigns, and other future PNT initiatives. Jones also leads Boeing’s Government Operations interface on advanced space technology and satellite systems with customers such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Nelson’s primary responsibilities for Aerojet Rocketdyne include interacting with both NASA and Congressional customers on civil space issues. She supports AR Washington Operations on Department of Defense launch issues. Previously, Nelson served as the Director of Washington Operations for Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne; and as a government affairs specialist for NASA’s Office of Legislative & Intergovernmental Affairs. She worked for six years in the Congressional offices of U.S. Representatives Bill Young (Florida), Mark Neumann (Wisconsin), Bud Shuster (Pennsylvania), and Dave Weldon (Florida).

“Our new executive council leadership brings a wealth of experience to the SEC. Under Matt and Susan’s guidance, we expect the SEC to work closely with the stakeholder community to help support policies and programs that will accelerate American competitiveness in the global space marketplace,” said Logsdon.
