Dear CSF Member

We are deeply saddened to report that this morning John “Mike” Lounge, a great friend and supporter of the commercial spaceflight industry, passed away from liver cancer.

Mike Lounge was an astrophysicist, a naval aviator who flew close to 100 combat missions in the Vietnam War, and a three-time Space Shuttle astronaut. He went on to serve as a senior executive at Spacehab and Boeing.

Mike was a tremendous supporter of the commercial spaceflight industry. The last year and a half he put in countless volunteer hours to support and advocate for all that we are trying to achieve. He was a good friend with a big heart, and he will be missed tremendously. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

We will send out additional information as it becomes available.

Best regards, Brett Alexander
