Coalition for Space Exploration Congratulates NASA for Developing Tool To Assemble Space Launch System

WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Space Exploration congratulates the NASA-Industry Space Launch System team for the completion and activation of the Vertical Assembly Center (VAC) at the agency’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. The VAC is the final of six critical tools that will be used to manufacture and assemble the stages of the Space Launch System (SLS). 

“We applaud NASA and SLS program team for achieving this significant milestone, marking the beginning of SLS manufacturing,” said Bill Beckman, Coalition chair. “SLS enables human exploration opportunities that have never before been possible, such as Mars, but it is also offers unprecedented deep-space robotic missions and astronomical observatories. The Coalition looks forward to the many additional accomplishments to come.”
