Today is NASA’s Day of Remembrance, a day designated to honor those NASA employees who lost their lives “while furthering the cause of exploration and discovery.”

“Today we pay tribute to the brave men and women of NASA who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation in the name of discovery and exploration,” said Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX). “Human spaceflight is a difficult undertaking and our NASA astronauts and crew members courageously take on the pursuit of advancing our understanding of the universe. We are forever grateful to all who have been lost and to their families and commend their dedication to this worthy endeavor.”

“On NASA’s annual Day of Remembrance, we honor and recognize the courageous NASA astronauts and crewmembers who tragically lost their lives while working to advance our nation’s space program,” said Chairwoman Kendra Horn (D-OK) of the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics. “Today and every day we remember their heroic devotion to this country as we work to uphold their legacy and ensure the U.S. remains a leader in space exploration. We will always remember those we have lost and are eternally thankful to them and their families for their great sacrifice.”
