ATK Awarded $76 Million Contract for Trident II Solid Propulsion

Alliant Techsystems has received a $76 million contract from Lockheed Martin to produce solid propulsion systems for all three stages of the U.S. Navy’s Trident II (D-5) Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM).

Under terms of the contract, ATK will continue to supply Trident solid propulsion systems to the Trident II (D-5) Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, Calif. through 2010. Trident II (D-5) is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic missile system in production today. It was first deployed in 1990 and is planned for continuous deployment to 2042.
