Astronaut Cady Coleman Shares Experiences While Visiting Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Astronaut Catherine “Cady” Coleman, will visit Cleveland Jan. 3 and 4 making appearances at NASA Glenn Research Center’s Visitor Center at the Great Lakes Science Center at the Great Lakes Science Center, the International Women’s Air and Space Museum and NASA’s Glenn Research Center.

Coleman logged over 4,330 hours in space, including flying on two missions aboard space shuttle Columbia and spending six months on the International Space Station with the Expedition 26/27 crew. In addition to performing science experiments and space station system maintenance operations, she acted as the lead robotics and science officer on station.

Coleman will be joined by astronaut Greg Johnson, associate director for external programs at Glenn, to a talk about living and working in space at 2 p.m. on Jan. 3 at the Great Lakes Science Center. Johnson piloted two missions aboard space shuttle Endeavour, including its final mission in the spring of 2011 which visited the station during Expedition 27. During this mission, he was the lead robotic arm operator for both the space shuttle and ISS robotic arms.

In the evening of Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. Coleman will give a talk at the International Women’s Air and Space Museum. Reporters interested in attending this event may contact Suzie Dills at the Museum at 216-623-1111.

On Jan. 4, Coleman will give a briefing on her experiences to the Glenn staff at 1 p.m. A brief media opportunity will follow her presentation.
