ASRC Federal Employees Inducted into Florida Space Hall of Fame
Two ASRC Federal employees—Pedro Medelius and T.K. Smith—are among 12 space workers recently inducted into the National Space Club Florida Committee Hall of Fame. The newly established award recognizes space workers who have demonstrated sustained performance in making significant contributions to enhancing U.S. space access. Medelius and Smith were recognized in the category of space launch technology.
“Pedro and T.K. are incredibly well deserving of this recognition, and we are extremely proud of them for their outstanding support of our nation’s space program,” said Mark Gray, ASRC Federal president and CEO. “Being selected to the inaugural class of space workers inducted into the National Space Club Florida Committee Hall of Fame appropriately reflects and honors their dedication and valuable contributions.”
The space workers’ names will appear etched in granite on the National Space Club Florida Hall of Fame pylon at the U.S. Space Walk of Fame in Titusville, Fla.
Medelius, ASRC Federal’s chief technologist, has provided technical expertise to NASA at Kennedy Space Center for more than 20 years. He has been instrumental in developing approximately 100 new technologies for NASA in various fields, including electronic instrumentation, signal conditioning, wire fault detection, and lightning detection and location.
Smith is a spacecraft technician on the Orion program. He has spent decades working on U.S. human spaceflight programs. Smith was one of the first space shuttle technicians transferred to Orion at the start of the program due to his well-known and highly respected problem-solving ability. He is credited with helping to develop designs and processes that ensure life cycle affordability for the next-generation spaceship.
