Alcatel today announced
the reorganization of its space activities to keep pace with the
fast-changing telecommunications market, in particular the emerging demand
for Internet and high-speed services.

This is also the reasoning behind the creation of a new business unit,
Telecoms and Services, comprising civil and military telecommunications
programs, terrestrial networks, operations and services (Spacecom) and
SkyBridge. Pascale Sourisse will head this new business unit and has been
named Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Alcatel’s space activities, while
retaining her position as Chairman and CEO of Skybridge.

A graduate of the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale
SupÈrieure des TÈlÈcommunications, Pascale Sourisse joined the Alcatel Group
in 1995 as Vice President, Planning and Strategy of Alcatel Space. She
previously held management positions with France Telecom, Jeumont-Schneider
and Compagnie GÈnÈrale des Eaux (now Vivendi), as well as with the French
Ministry of Industry. In 1997 she was named Chairman and CEO of SkyBridge, a
company founded by Alcatel to develop high-speed Internet and other
multimedia services via satellite.
