Airspace and Road Closures for Shuttle Atlantis’ Move to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The following airspace and road closures will be in effect for the move of space shuttle Atlantis from Kennedy Space Center to its final destination for permanent public display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Friday, Nov. 2.

NASA KENNEDY SPACE CENTER AREA AVIATION FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS

What: Activation of Restricted Area R-2934

When: Friday, Nov. 2, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. EDT

Where: All aviation traffic is prohibited from entering Restricted Area R-2934 from the surface up to 5,000 feet during this period. Pilots should check NOTAM for the latest information.

PUBLIC ACCESS ROAD CLOSURES

State Road 3 from the Gate 2 News Media Pass and Identification Building to State Road 405 (NASA Causeway) via Space Commerce Way and State Road 405 from U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame to Space Commerce Way will be closed for public access from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. EDT. The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex also will be closed to those who do not hold tickets to the “Atlantis — Celebrate the Journey” event. For event details, the public can call 877-313-2610.
