AIA Welcomes Continued Campaign Focus on Lifting Budget Caps

AIA is pleased by the recent attention in the Presidential campaign toward ending BCA caps on discretionary spending. As reported today in The Hill, Michèle Flournoy, a former senior Pentagon official in the Obama Administration said, “We have to get out from under [Budget Control Act] caps,” during a conference sponsored by the Institute for the Study of War. Her comments demonstrate the range of bipartisan agreement that the Budget Control Act caps on spending must be removed as a matter of national security.

AIA renews its call for repealing the Budget Control Act caps on all discretionary spending – both on defense and non-defense accounts – and for Congress and the next administration, regardless of the outcome of the election, to work together to address the real drivers of America’s debt and deficit issues without constraining the investments we need to ensure future economic growth and preserve our national security.
