The Aerospace Industries Association is pleased to announce that David Silver, an executive with decades of experience in aerospace and defense, will be joining the AIA team as Vice President of Civil Aviation. Silver will lead the Civil Aviation Division and spearhead AIA’s efforts to spur investment in America’s civil aviation infrastructure, incorporate unmanned systems in the national airspace and streamline certification processes at the Federal Aviation Administration.

“We are delighted to welcome David to the AIA team,” said AIA President and CEO David F. Melcher. “He has a wealth of experience with civil aviation regulatory issues and will be a great asset for AIA’s advocacy objectives.”

Prior to joining AIA, Silver worked for nearly twenty years in a variety of positions within Boeing Commercial Airplanes, including stints as Director of Engineering and Regulatory Affairs and as Deputy Fleet Chief of the Boeing 787 Program. He served for 22 years in the Washington Army National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2014. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Washington State University and is an Honor Graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
