Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel Presents Report to NASA
The Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) presents its annual
report to NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin at 1:00 p.m. EST
on Thursday, Feb. 8.
The report will be presented to the Administrator in the
Program Review Center, room 9H40, NASA Headquarters, 300 E
Street SW, Washington, DC.
Each year, the panel reviews and evaluates current and future
NASA programs and activities and reports its findings to the
Administrator in a public session. Priority is given to
programs that involve the safety of human flight.
“At present, safety is being well served by both NASA and its
contractors,” said Richard D. Blomberg, Chair of the Aerospace
Safety Advisory Panel. “The past year provided several
laudable examples of decisions that clearly placed safety
ahead of schedule and cost.”
Following the Apollo spacecraft fire on Jan. 27, 1967,
Congress enacted legislation to establish the ASAP as a senior
safety advisory panel to NASA.
