Aerojet Rocketdyne, Inc., a subsidiary of Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AJRD), announced today that its Software Engineering practices have been successfully reappraised at the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) maturity level 3. This achievement is the result of a year-long effort of assessment preparation, and more than 20 years of sustained software process development and improvement.

“Aerojet Rocketdyne is proud to continue our history of leveraging our Engineering Software to provide high-quality products and services to our partners and customers,” said Aerojet Rocketdyne CEO and President Eileen Drake. “We are committed to delivering results to our customers as we assist their critical missions.”

The appraisal, which was conducted by The Process Company, LLC, focused on a representative sample of projects supported by the entire Software Engineering organization, and included personnel from Huntsville, Alabama, and Los Angeles and Sacramento, California facilities.

The CMMI is an industry standard that can be applied to any development activity, but is commonly applied to software. It contains detailed best practices and is widely used as an industry benchmark. In addition to commercial application, government organizations often use the CMMI rating as a measure of risk during the selection process and frequently require Levels 2 or 3 as part of the contract.

“Achieving CMMI Level 3 during our 2017 appraisal reflects the outstanding discipline and commitment to excellence of Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Software Engineering organization,” said Brian Malone, director of Software Engineering at Aerojet Rocketdyne. “Not only is maintaining our Level 3 rating a requirement of several of our current contracts, it is also key to providing confidence to our potential customers and partners that our organization has the maturity to produce high-quality and dependable products.”
