Aerojet Rocketdyne Completes Delivery of 200th THAAD Booster Motor and DACS Unit
Aerojet Rocketdyne (NYSE: AJRD) announced today that it has completed the delivery of its 200th booster motor and Divert and Attitude Control System (DACS) for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system.
“These deliveries to our customer are significant for the THAAD program and Aerojet Rocketdyne,” said Michael Bright, vice president of Missile Defense and Strategic Systems at Aerojet Rocketdyne. “Fielding THAAD batteries for our troops and allies who are defending against the growing ballistic missile threat is a major focus for our customers. Meeting the growing demand for THAAD missile propulsion has been a major focus for Aerojet Rocketdyne. We look forward to continuing to provide affordable and reliable products for this unique missile defense capability that supports our nation and our allies.”
Aerojet Rocketdyne delivered the 200th booster motor in November 2014, and delivered the 200th DACS unit in January 2015. Both products were completed ahead of contractual requirements, demonstrating Aerojet Rocketdyne’s ability to execute to production demands.
Aerojet Rocketdyne supplies both the booster motor technology that powers the THAAD interceptor, as well as the DACS – a high-precision, quick-reaction propulsion system that positions the interceptor to successfully defeat an incoming ballistic missile.
