Space enthusiasts will be in orbit June 9-12, as Spacefest VII launches its stellar convention at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort and Spa located at 3800 W. Starr Pass Blvd. in Tucson.

Spacefest is a four-day event hosted by Novaspace.com LLC, a Tucson-based space art and autograph dealer that has been in business since 1978. Novaspace, producers of Spacefest, launched the first event in East Phoenix in 2007; with subsequent Spacefest events landing in San Diego in 2009; Pasadena in 2014; and Tucson for three consecutive years 2011, 2012 and 2013, before returning in 2016.

“Spacefest is THE event for space enthusiasts of any stripe, from the professional to the amateur,” Novaspace said in a statement.

“Spacefest is the most unique space event on the planet, bringing together astronauts, planetary scientists, authors, astronomers, space artists, and fans from around the world.”

A stellar crew of Apollo, Skylab, space shuttle astronauts, and flight controllers come on board for the autograph show and panel discussions, including: moonwalkers Alan Bean, Gene Cernan, Charlie Duke and Dave Scott; command module pilots Michael Collins, Richard Gordon and Al Worden; ill-fated Apollo 13 astronauts Fred Haise and James Lovell; and the first woman commander of a shuttle mission, Eileen Collins.

The conference agenda posted on the Spacefest VII website https://www.spacefest.info/ lists the date and time of scheduled speakers, author talks, book signings, movies, and a stargazing party. Panel discussions cover an array of topics, from the Apollo and Skylab programs; to space history and legends of the space shuttle; plus Mars, stars and beyond.

Rounding out Spacefest’s A-list attendees of astronauts, astronomers, and authors, are the artists and artworks at an astronomical art exhibit of original space-themed paintings, prints and posters for sale or browsing.

Astronaut bios, autograph fees, and dates signing are posted on the Spacefest VII website, as well as each booth at the autograph show. Space enthusiasts can bring their own memorabilia to be signed, or purchase photos, books and collectibles from reputable dealers. Upon request, most astronauts will also pose for photos.

Daily admission per person is $30 per day on Friday and Saturday; $20 per day on Thursday and Sunday; or $60 for all four days. Children under age 12 are admitted free with an adult. Tickets to individual talks, panel discussions, and movies have an additional admittance fee at the door. A banquet dinner, and two celebrity luncheons offer attendees an opportunity to dine with an astronaut or speaker.

Preregistration for discounted ticket packages, pre-conference space-related tours, and the link to group-rate rooms at the host hotel, JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort and Spa, are featured on Spacefest VII’s secure server at https://www.spacefest.info/ or by phone at 800-727-6682.
