6th Annual Cape Canaveral Spaceport Symposium On Track
CAPE CANAVERAL SPACEPORT — The Cape Canaveral Spaceport will
host space industry leaders at the two-day annual Cape Canaveral
Spaceport
Symposium (formerly the Florida Space Launch Symposium) Nov. 14-15 at the
Radisson Resort and Conference Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
This nationally recognized event will feature spacecraft
manufacturers, launch providers, payload processors, insurers, legal and
government executives working together to advance the launch base portion
of
the U.S. space program. This year’s theme, Planning Together for the
Future, highlights the Cape Canaveral Spaceport’s over 50 years of
unmatched
expertise in bringing people to space and space to people.
In an ongoing effort to streamline the process of doing spaceport
business, the Air Force’s 45th Space Wing, NASA’s John F. Kennedy Space
Center and the state’s Spaceport Florida Authority have partnered to
develop
this new unofficial entity known as the Cape Canaveral Spaceport. The
Spaceport will feature one-stop customer service and support to the space
launch industry.
“The past 50 years have been incredible but the next 50 years will
be beyond our wildest dreams,” said Roy Bridges, director of NASA Kennedy
Space Center. “As KSC plans together with the 45th Space Wing and
Spaceport
Florida Authority for the future of the Cape Canaveral Spaceport we are
crystallizing a vision for the future, which will be at a distinct
advantage
in influencing the future we want to have for the Space Coast.”
The three agencies have designed this sixth annual symposium as a
dynamic workshop environment. Panel members will discuss the latest
technologies, policies and trends associated with space transportation.
This symposium sets itself apart from other space forums in an
important way. “Our agenda is totally customer-driven,” said Brig. Gen.
Donald P. Pettit, 45th Space Wing commander. “That is, we are asking our
local stakeholders and space industry to discuss with us what’s important
in
planning the future spaceport.”
“The symposium is an example of Florida’s growing involvement in the
space transportation industry,” said Edward O’Connor, executive director
of
the Spaceport Florida Authority. “The Spaceport Florida Authority has
become a full partner with the Air Force and NASA at the Cape Canaveral
Spaceport. We want the symposium to highlight the opportunities that
this
partnership creates.”
