U.S.S. Enterprise sailors from
Norfolk, Virginia, will appear as crewpersons on Paramount Network
Television’s hit drama ENTERPRISE, the newest Star Trek series. Their scenes
in the “Desert Crossings” episode were shot on the Paramount lot in Hollywood
on Thursday, March 7 and it will air on May 8 on UPN.

The U.S.S. Enterprise, the first aircraft carrier deployed after the tragic
incidents of September 11th, selected three “Sailors of the Year” by an
internal Navy committee. They are Aviation Electronic Technician First Class
Robert Pickering, Aviation Electrician’s Mate Second Class Timothy
Whittington and Personnelman Third Class Sara Elizabeth Pizzo. During the
last several months, these exceptional sailors and their shipmates were
treated to advance tapes of ENTERPRISE episodes. In an effort to further
honor the “Sailors of the Year,” the cast and crew of ENTERPRISE invited them
to make guest appearances on the show.

During a break in shooting, the sailors presented executive producers Rick
Berman and Brannon Braga with a specially designed plaque in gratitude for
all the support and encouragement the cast, crew and actors of ENTERPRISE
have given the crewpersons of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Cast members Scott
Bakula (Captain Jonathan Archer) and Connor Trinneer (Chief Engineer Charles
“Trip” Tucker, III) were also on hand for the ceremony, along with a majority
of the cast and crew.

ENTERPRISE takes place several decades after Earth’s first successful,
faster-than-light space flight. The Enterprise NX-01 has inaugurated a new
age of discovery for the human race, boldly going where no man has gone
before. Led by the passionate and strong-willed Captain Jonathan Archer,
ENTERPRISE captures all the wonder, excitement and danger of early, deep
space exploration.

In addition to Mr. Bakula and Mr. Trinneer, the cast includes Jolene Blalock
as Vulcan Sub Commander T’Pol; Dominic Keating as Lt. Malcolm Reed; Anthony
Montgomery as Ensign Travis Mayweather; Linda Park as Ensign Hoshi Sato and
John Billingsley as Dr. Phlox.

Rick Berman and Brannon Braga are executive producers and creators of
ENTERPRISE, which is based on Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry.
ENTERPRISE is produced by Paramount Network Television for UPN. Paramount
Television Production is part of the Viacom Entertainment Group, a unit of
Viacom Inc.
