Announcement

The Future Space Leaders Foundation (FSLF) is pleased to announce the 2013 Future Space Leaders Grant Program providing opportunities for U.S. graduate students and young professionals pursuing space and satellite-related careers to participate in the 64th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Beijing, China, September 23-27, 2013.

In addition to attending the IAC, Grant Recipients will be invited to participate in supplementary career development activities such as the United Nations/International Astronautical Federation Workshop, the Space Generation Congress (SGC) and the IAC Cross-Cultural Presentation Workshop. U.S. graduate students and young professionals between the ages of 21 and 35 on January 1, 2013, who have already been selected to present a paper at an IAC technical session or as a panellist for the Next Generation Plenary at the 64th IAC in Beijing, are encouraged to apply. Two Grant Recipients will be selected by the FSLF to participate in the 2013 FSLF Grant Program.

Eligibility

Graduate students and young professionals between the ages of 21 and 35 who are United States citizens and are currently residing in the United States;

For 2013, applicants must have already have been selected to present a paper at an IAC technical session or as a panellist for the Next Generation Plenary in Beijing;

Individuals interested in pursuing careers involving the development, application and use of space systems; space science research; policy, legal, social and cultural aspects of space activities; international cooperation on space programmes; and other similar subjects;

Individuals who wish to meet and interact with other colleagues from around the world with similar interests in space and satellites;

Individuals who hope to utilize the knowledge and experiences they gain during the IAC in their own careers and in enhancing space and related activities.

Grant Program Awards

Cover round-trip air fare between the United States and Beijing, China;

Support (in-kind services or funding) for local transportation, lodging and meals during the Grant Recipient’s stay in Beijing, China;

Awards include registration in the 64th IAC and associated activities such as the Space Generation Congress or the 2013 UN/IAF Workshop and the Cross Cultural Presentation Workshop;

Grant Recipients get advice from an FSLF mentor on activities before and during the IAC to help Grant Recipients benefit fully from the Congress and related meetings; and

Attend meeting(s) with an FSLF mentor(s) during the IAC to further enrich the experience.
