$100,000 In Grants: Explorers Club / Foundation Mamont: The World Exploration Challenge
Explorers and scientists from around the world are preparing today to turn their dreams of discovery into reality by pursuing “The World Exploration Challenge,” a new innovative program supported with up to $100,000 in grants from The Explorers Club and Foundation Mamont, which is founded by Dr. Frederik Paulsen, an Explorers Club Fellow.
The Challenge is designed to promote exploration and scientific achievement with extraordinary field expeditions that will benefit scientific research, the environment, sustainability, and bring new and exciting “exploration” finds to center-stage. The World Exploration Challenge will be open to applicants from any country.
Interested Challenge Grant participants have until October 1 to submit their applications to The Explorers Club. They will be reviewed and audited by a select Explorers Club scientific/exploration panel headed by Club Member Les Guthman, the Emmy-nominated creator and former executive producer of Outside Television and the DISCOVER MAGAZINE television series.
Alan Nichols, President, commented: “Since limitations on financial resources is an important impediment to the continued exploration to discover scientific and other significant finding and knowledge throughout the world, this initiative by the Foundation Mamont, founded by Fellow Member Dr. Paulsen is a historic beginning of what I hope becomes an important aspect of the work of The Explorers Club for all members in addition to our annual important contributions to student exploration from the Youth Activity Fund and Exploration Fund.”
