Steve Jurvetson is one of the commercial space industry’s most successful investors. He is a partner of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, where he serves on the boards of Planet Labs, SpaceX, Synthetic Genomics and Tesla Motors.
He was the founding VC investor in Hotmail and the public companies Interwoven, Kana, and NeoPhotonics. He also led DFJ’s investments in companies that were acquired for $12 billion in aggregate. Previously, Steve was an R&D Engineer at Hewlett-Packard, a Bain Consultant, and worked in product marketing at Apple and NeXT. At Stanford University, he finished his BSEE in 2.5 years and graduated #1 in his class, as the Henry Ford Scholar. Steve also holds an MSEE and MBA from Stanford. He was recently named Deloitte’s “Venture Capitalist of the Year” and chosen by Forbes as one of “Tech’s Best Venture Investors” and was also selected by Fortune as part of their “Brain Trust of Top Ten Minds”. Steve is also a rocketry hobbyist and space artifact collector.
