SunSat Design Competition

The SunSat Design Competition is a new international competition designed to accelerate the conceptualization, manufacture, launch and operation of the next-generation satellites that will collect energy in space and deliver it to earth as a non-polluting source of electrical power.
The competition was started by Don Flournoy a professor at the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University who is also the founding Editor of the Online Journal of Space Communication.

To fund the competition the Professor Flournoy and the competitions supporters have started a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising $110,000.

The funds will be used for project management (OU GRID Lab students and staff for 2013-2014), up-front incentive funds for registrants (competitive teams that have successfully met the conditions for registration for 2013-2014) and prizes (to be awarded at ISDC-2014).

GRID Lab Management Team: $10,000
SunSat (Registered) Teams: $36,000
Cash Prizes to be Awarded: $54,000
