SUMMARY:Beyond Earth 2023 Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Beyond Earth Institute (BE) will again host the Beyond Earth Symposium on November 1-2\, 2023\, at the American University\, Washington School of Law\, in Washington\, DC. The Symposium will build on the success of BE’s inaugural event in October 2022. For more information\, visit https://beyondearthsymposium.org For press wishing to cover the event\, contact David Bullock at david@beyondearth.org. \nThis year we go deeper into the policy issues impacting the rapidly evolving space ecosystem. Stakeholders from across the industry\, government\, and international sectors will gather to examine the policy challenges of the moment and those that push the envelope to inspire the best chance for off-world migration in this century. \n“The success of the BE Symposium last year confirmed that we are on the right path\,” said BE President Steve Wolfe\, “The space community is now ready for a sober dialogue on the policies that can propel human spaceflight and habitation.” \nCourtney Stadd\, Executive Vice President of Beyond Earth\, added\, “Our growing list of sponsors\, as well as individual policy experts and organizations eager for BE to build on last year’s public-private sector engagement\, has generated momentum for continuing these in-person Space Symposia. We look forward to generating forward leaning concrete recommendations to ensure humanity’s continued off-planet communities that ultimately offer self-sustaining economic enterprises while benefiting our precious home planet.” \nHighlights of the Beyond Earth Symposium 2023: \nMore than 30 space policy thought leaders appearing at the Symposium include Lt. Gen. John E. Shaw\, Deputy Commander\, U.S. Space Command\, Matthew Daniels of the White House Office of Science and Technology\, and Courtney Stadd\, EVP of Beyond Earth Institute. \nThe session topics will introduce new thinking in each topic area. The audience will be drawn into the discussion. Session topics include: \n– We Go Together: Global Perspective on Space Development\n– Making the Case for Beyond Earth Communities\n– Ensuring the Success of Commercial Space Stations in a Post-ISS Era\n– From Surviving to Thriving in Space: Making Space Life Sciences A Priority\n– Building a Cislunar Ecosystem\n– Financing Pathways for Large-Scale Space Infrastructure and Communities \nProfessional networking at the BE Symposium will be a fusion of diverse expertise and development interests that will shape careers and help to stimulate business growth \nAbout the Beyond Earth Institute \nThe Beyond Earth Institute is a 501(c)(3) U.S. non-profit organization. It is at the heart of all related initiatives that impact the success of the space movement with respect to human expansion beyond Earth. Beyond Earth’s focus is on technology readiness\, worldwide public support\, and related public policy enactment\, including recommendations for policy initiatives. Beyond Earth conducts primary and secondary research\, then consolidates and publicizes reports to be delivered and presented widely throughout the space policy community both in the U.S. and internationally.\n. \nFor more information\, press only:\nDavid Bullock\n701-330-5602\ndavid@beyondearth.org \nFor more information on Beyond Earth Institute

SUMMARY:MilSat Symposium 2023
DESCRIPTION:The upcoming MilSat Symposium 2023 aims to establish novel means of communication between national space defense and the industry. As outdated methods of contracting the creation of customized satellites\, sensors\, ground equipment\, and software have become stagnant\, it has become increasingly essential for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the industry to communicate openly. The MilSat Symposium strives to establish these new channels of communication by bringing together leaders from the commercial space industry and defense decision-makers. \nThrough sessions\, keynote speeches\, and technical discussions\, influential experts will explore the most efficient and prompt solutions in developing and safeguarding crucial space assets. In addition to analyzing and discussing these solutions\, the sessions will also scrutinize the financial\, technical\, and logistical challenges encountered by the Space Force\, Space Command\, and commercial suppliers. Discover how you can contribute most efficiently to a more adaptable and competent space defense community.

SUMMARY:NASA Open Science Analysis Working Group Symposium
DESCRIPTION:What is the AWG Symposium? \nTo explore deeper into space\, it is crucial that we learn how our bodies change and adapt to the unique environment of space. The Open Science Data Repository (a combination of GeneLab and Ames Life Sciences Data Archive – ALSDA – datasets) helps scientists understand how the fundamental building blocks of life itself change from exposure to microgravity\, radiation\, and other aspects of the space environment. The purpose of the Open Science Analysis Working Groups (AWGs) is to optimize the processing of raw omics data from the Open Science Data Repository to maximize the gain of new knowledge from such complex datasets. The AWG’s are comprised of scientists with diverse backgrounds and is subdivided into six main areas of expertise (Plant\, Animal\, Microbes\, Multi-omics\, ALSDA\, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning – AI/ML). The AWG members focus on establishing consensus pipelines\, discuss processed data and analyze GeneLab data that enables new discoveries. \nOccurring on March 16\, 2023 from 10 am – 2:30 pm PT\, this free virtual event is open to the public and will allow attendees an opportunity to hear about some of the exciting open science stemming from the AWG community. The symposium will feature a keynote address from Eliah Overbey at Weill Cornell Medicine\, and scientific presentations from AWG members that have expertise in data science\, plant biology\, systems biology\, microbiology\, and space medicine. If you are intrigued by the science occurring in the AWGs\, then we would love for you to join! Learn more about how to join the AWGs during the event.

SUMMARY:Beyond Earth Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Beyond Earth Symposium is the inaugural annual forum hosted by the Beyond Earth Institute. The Symposium will examine U.S. and international near-term policies that will best enable economically vibrant communities beyond Earth. Senior policy professionals from industry\, academia and government will gather together and lean into the critical policy and legal issues that will help shape the future of human presence in space. \nHuman expansion into space\, leading eventually to large space-based communities\, is rapidly becoming a reality and requires the focused engagement of space policy and legal professionals. The Beyond Earth Institute contends that good policy must lead\, not follow\, the development of human spaceflight and habitation. \nWith plenty of opportunities for networking\, the Symposium will be a place where lasting connections can be formed around a shared sense of purpose and vision. \nThe Beyond Earth Symposium is being organized in generous cooperation with the University of Arizona Lunar & Planetary Laboratory.
