SPACE WEATHER ADVISORY OUTLOOK #04- 5

2004 February 03 at 03:48 p.m. MST (2004 February 03 2248 UTC)

**** SPACE WEATHER OUTLOOK ****

Summary For January 26-February 1

Space weather during the past week reached minor levels. The sunspot
clusters that produced the moderate radio blackouts during the last
period all rotated around the west limb of the sun on 26 January. The
sun was actually devoid of sunspots on 27 and 28 January. Category G1
(minor) geomagnetic storm periods were observed on January 28th, 30th,
and 31st, due to high speed solar wind from a coronal hole on the sun.
For a list of adverse system effects related to space weather storms,
please refer to the NOAA Space Weather Scales.

Outlook For February 4-10

Space weather for the next week may reach minor levels. G1 (minor)
geomagnetic storm levels are expected during the next few days from
high speed solar wind from a coronal hole on the sun. There is a slight
chance for R1 radio blackouts this week. The probability will increase
later in the week with the expected return of old active regions.
