DMSP

All DMSP operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

POES

NOAA-11 rev 75087 / W at 1449Z on April 16:  Changed battery 1 & 2 charge rates to LRC from MRC as per SCP.

All POES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.

GOES

At 0046Z on April 17, the 0055z GOES-12 CONUS image was missed due to a command conflict with GOES-8.  GOES-8 required manual commanding during a housekeeping period, which unfortunately conflicted with this command time for GOES-12.  This concern will be alleviated once GOES-8 is greater than a few degrees from GOES-12 a couple of days after the start of the GOES-8 drift period, which is scheduled to start start on April 24.

Five GOES-9 test images continue to be commanded during the 1641Z to 0644Z period.  These test images will continue through Friday, April 16 (Day 108).  These images are not expected to be within INR or radiometric specification. GOES-9 performance continues to be nominal.  Expected limit changes and momentum management actions continue.  GOES-9 is currently at approximately 161.13 E drifting at a westward rate of ~0.718 degrees per day toward 155 E longitude where it will support the GMS-5 replacement mission on April 25.

GOES-12 continues to drift at an eastward rate of ~0.33 degrees per day toward 75 degrees W until the stop maneuver is performed on approximately April 22.  Until GOES-12 arrives on-station, the GOES-12 will be retransmitted via GOES-8 (to minimize impacts to the users).

Keep-out-Zones (KOZ) operations for all spacecraft continue through day 116.  Schedules for GOES-East and GOES-West (which can be used to track the day-to-day image deletions due to KOZ) can be found at:

Major upcoming GOES milestones (Note: These dates are subject to change)

  • April 16-19:  GOES-9 GVAR begins, INR startup with a 0.7 deg/day drift
  • April 22:  GOES-12 stops at 75 deg W; ancillary communication services (DCS, WEFAX, EMWIN, SAR) become operational.
  • April 24:  GOES-8 drift start westward from 75 W
  • April 25:  GOES-9 drift stop at 155 E

All GOES operations were nominal over the past 24 hours.
