numbers below are the percentage changes between FY 2002 and FY 2003
(current year) for physics-related budgets tracked by FYI. For further

NSF Research and Related Activities Budget: Up 12.7%

NSF Mathematical and Physical Sciences Budget: Up 12.4%

NSF Geosciences Budget: Up 12.3%

NSF Engineering Budget: Up 12.3%

DOE Advanced Computing Research Program Budget: Up 11.5%

NSF Budget (Total): Up 10.4%

DOE Nuclear Physics Program Budget: Up 8.3%

NIST Laboratory Budget: Up 8.3%

NSF U.S. Polar Research Programs Budget: Up 7.2%

NSF Major Research Equipment and Facilities Budget: Up 7.0%

NASA Biological and Physical Research Budget: Up 5.3%

NASA Earth Science Budget: Up 5.1%

DOE Basic Energy Sciences Program Budget: Up 3.8%

NIST Budget (Total): Up 3.4%

DOE High Energy Physics Program Budget: Up 2.9%

Department of Education Improving Teacher Quality Program Budget: Up 2.8%

DOE Fusion Energy Sciences Program Budget: Up 2.4%

NSF Education and Human Resources Budget: Up 1.0%

USGS Budget (Total): Up 0.6%

NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program Budget: Down 0.6%

DOE Office of Science (Total): Down 1.5%

NIST Advanced Technology Program Budget: Down 3.5%

DOE Biological and Environmental Research Program Budget: Down 9.1%

NASA Human Space Flight Budget: Down 10.1%
