This programme provides an overview of the history of weather forecasting and looks at how technology has led to an increase in the reliablilty of forecasts. In addition to this it outlines how ESA and EUMETSAT’s new Meteosat satellite, MSG (Meteosat Second Generation)will futher increase the accuracy of weather predictions particularly in the areas of local and short term forecasting.
