Terra Weekly Mission Status Update May 31 – June 6, 2002
The Terra spacecraft is in nominal mode. All instruments are functioning
well in science mode.
The 7-day demo of two MODIS data dumps per orbit in support of NPP data
delivery requirements has been planned for June 13-20, 2002. The primary
playback automation command procedure has been modified and tested as
required to support this demonstration. As a result of the launch delays
for the space shuttle mission STS-111, some of the days for this
demonstration will overlap the shuttle mission. This presents a
challenging scenario for getting the required Tracking and Data Relay
Satellite System (TDRSS) time, and may impact the ability of Terra to
obtain two MODIS dumps per orbit for some time periods.
The scrub of mode transition and safe hold procedures undertaken
subsequent to the safe hold event following the 5th inclination adjust
maneuver on March 19, 2002, has been completed. Spacecraft development
contractor subsystem engineers supported the Earth Science Mission
Operations Project and Terra Flight Operations Team in the effort, and
will be issuing a final report on the work effort. No specific date has
been set for rescheduling the 6th inclination adjust maneuver; no date
will be selected until at least the point at which Aqua attains its
mission operational orbit.
The next drag make-up maneuver is scheduled for June 19.
