  2. Transponder Interface Electronics (TIE) Clock Jam and Adjustment was completed at 1255 GMT. GIRD clock error was only 0.1 msec and the GIIS clock error was only 0.45 msec. The science requirement is +/- 10 msec.
  3. AIRS was commanded to Standby/Startup at 1333 GMT.
  4. AIRS was commanded to Standby/Instrument Initialized.
  5. Comm Coverage Tests line of sight to zenith omni for telemetry was conducted.
  6. The first Master Command Load (MCL) was loaded at 1858 GMT and activated at 0000 GMT.
  7. Spacecraft ephemeris was uplinked at 2055 GMT.
  8. Star Tracker Assemblies (STA) were turned on at 2321 GMT to evaluate performance.
  9. AIRS decontaminate heater was commanded on at 2347 GMT.
  10. MODIS was transitioned to the On State at 0135 GMT.
  11. MODIS Space View Door (SVD) was unlatched at 0312 -Pas
  12. MODIS Solar Diffuser Door (SDD) was unlatched at 0450 GMT.
  13. MODIS Nadir Door was unlatched at 0625 GMT. All MODIS doors are now unlatched.

The following activities are scheduled May 7 – May 8, 2002:

  1. CERES will enable housekeeping (H/K) data transactions.
  2. CERES Fore will Power On.
  3. CERES Aft will Power On.
  4. CERES telemetry monitoring (TMON) will be activated.
  5. AIRS SCS Loads
  6. AIRS ISC Table Loads
  7. AIRS to Standby/Cooler Off
  8. S-Band Antenna Polarization Test (EPGN & TDRS)

Aqua Spacecraft Status:

  1. Spacecraft State is currently Standby.
  2. GNC Mode is Earth Point Mode, HiFi Ephemeris.

Aqua Instrument Status:

  1. AIRS is in Decontaminate state, Quiet bus is ON, Noisy bus is ON, Cryocooler is OFF, Scan mirror rotating is OFF and earth shield is CLOSED.
  2. AMSR-E is in Modified Sleep mode, rotating at 4 RPM.
  3. AMSU A1 is in Survival mode and the antenna is in the TARGET position.
  4. AMSU A2 is in Survival mode and the antenna is in the TARGET position.
  5. CERES Aft is in Survival mode and the covers are CLOSED.
  6. CERES Fore is in Survival mode and the covers are CLOSED.
  7. HSB is in Survival mode and the antenna is in the TARGET position.
  8. MODIS is in Survival mode, Nadir Door is Unlatched and CLOSED, Solar Diff Door is Unlatched and CLOSED, and the Space View Door is Unlatched and CLOSED.

Activities Deferred:

  1. Spacecraft transition to Fine Point Mode (FPM) delayed.
    1. Delta-V demonstration Yaw Maneuver will not be performed.

Anomalies:

  1. Spacecraft transition to Fine Point Mode (FPM) delayed.
    1. Flight dynamics analysis indicates potential change of 0.15 degrees in alignment between the two star trackers.
    2. Recommendation is to perform star identification in order to assist in determining if alignment shift is truly present.
    3. Developing updated alignment matrices to assist in entering FPM if needed.
  2. Code word error interrupted AIRS table upload on May 6 and a dropped command occurred during MODIS power on today.
    1. Both loads resent successfully.
    2. Code word errors not associated with uplink commands have also been observed on 7 other occasions.
    3. Delogs of telemetry and format table patches are underway to determine root cause investigation.
    4. Spacecraft health and safety was never in danger at any time.
    5. Activation continues nominally with the exception of FPM transition.
  3. No Major Ground Anomalies
