Background information on the transmission:
On the 25 April 2002 ESA Astronaut Roberto Vittori will become the first Italian astronaut to be launched on board a Russian Soyuz spacecraft to the International Space Station.
Due to slightly delayed events in Baikonour the ESA TV Service will now make two transmissions of pre-launch images.
This first transmission will comprise of:
– Arrival of crew in Baikonour
– Crew welcoming ceremony
– Final assembly, fueling, roll-out and erection of the launcher.
A replay of this first transmission will be made at:
10:00-10:30 GMT (11:00-11:30 BST,12:00-12:30 CEST)
on the same satellite channel as this transmission, please note the parameters below.
The second transmission will be made on Tuesday afternoon and a mailing will be made tomorrow morning of the exact time and satellite details of this transmission. The second transmission will feature:
– Soundbites by VIP’s and ESA officials
– Final crew press conference
– Interviews with ESA astronaut Roberto Vittori and South African Mark Shuttleworth.
