ESA TV Exchanges
Background information on the transmission:
This ESA TV Exchanges feed is transmitted by the European Commission’s “Europe by Satellite” (EbS) service. You can find the complete transmission schedule and download scripts and shot lists, also for ESA TV items, from the EbS Web site at http://europa..eu.int/comm/ebs/index.html
In early December, ESA’s Envisat satellite is due to be launched on Ariane 5. Today’s transmission starts a series of eight Exchange Programmes on Envisat’s science and application promises, one per week.
Today’s programme features how data from Envisat’s ASAR and AATSR instruments will help to better monitor forest fires and to assess the damage these make to the environment. This application is developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, JRC. The programme includes new graphics on Envisat and recordings made at the JRC, and shows how the forest fire applications with Envisat will build on the achievements with ESA’s ERS-satellites.
The 5-minute A-roll contains split audio with an English guide track and is complemented by a longer B-roll with clean international sound. The script and shot list will be on-line as of 11 September as a PDF document under http://television.esa.int/photos/EbS21196.pdf
