Members of Congress will return to Washington with a clear message from their constituents – support NASA’s new Vision for Space Exploration – thanks to a nation-wide August legislative push by the members of the Space Exploration Alliance.

The Space Exploration Alliance (SEA), a partnership of the nation’s premier non-profit space organizations with a combined membership of more than 1.2 million people across the United States, activated its grassroots networks to show support for NASA and the Vision for Space Exploration. SEA Members from all over the country are meeting with as many members of Congress as possible in their home districts before they return to Washington.

During their meetings, SEA members are demonstrating the widespread support – within the space advocacy community and in the public at large – for the new Vision, and urge representatives and senators to support NASA’s exciting new mission to the Moon and on to Mars. SEA members will encourage their Senators and members of Congress to:

  • Continue to fully support the Vision’s plan and financial requirements
  • Accelerate the schedule for achievement of the Vision
  • Support NASA’s strategy of utilizing a mix of launch technologies
  • Amend the Iran Non-Proliferation Act to protect America’s investment in the International Space Station (ISS)

George T. Whitesides, Executive Director of the National Space Society, applauded the efforts of the alliance volunteer network. “Showing real public support for space will help keep the Vision sustained through the years ahead. NSS members are proud to join with other groups to show Congress that it must make space a priority.”
