Scott Chase Named President and Chief Executive Officer Of The Strategis Group

Scott Chase today was named president
and chief executive officer of The Strategis Group, a leading
telecommunications industry market research and consulting firm located here.
He previously had been senior vice president and group publisher of the
Satellite and Space Group of Phillips Business Information, Inc., Potomac, MD.

“Scott Chase has an impressive background in telecommunications research
and financial management,” said Peter Cashman, chairman and CEO of C-7 Group,
which recently bought The Strategis Group.
“He is a perfect match with the
needs of The Strategis Group to continue to be the industry’s premier market
research and consulting organization.
He is particularly strong in the areas
of wireless and broadband, technology’s two leading growth sectors, as well as
in satellite.

Chase, 47, of Silver Spring, MD, joined Phillips Publishing in 1986 as
associate editor of Satellite News and editor of DBS News.
He held a number
of editorial positions before being named publisher of Via Satellite magazine
in 1993.
Chase has been a director of Phillips Business Information, Inc.,
since 1995, and was vice president and group publisher of Phillips from 1995
until last April, when he was named senior vice president and group publisher
of the Satellite and Space Group.

Chase was a business and financial news staffer with The Washington Post
from 1977 to 1981 and a night editor of The Post’s weekly Monday “Washington
Business” section. Following that, Chase was a senior specialist in public and
investor relations with COMSAT from 1981-1986.
He was also a regular feature
contributor to Regardie’s magazine from 1980-1982.

As a journalist, he has received awards from the American Association of
Business Publishers, the Aviation/Space Writers Association, and the
Washington Space Business Roundtable.
He is an ex-officio board member of the
Society of Satellite Professionals International, a Fellow of the American
Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a member representative of the
International Astronautical Federation and the Asia-Pacific Satellite
Communications Council. He also serves as a board director of Junior
Achievement of the National Capital Area, Inc., and the Arthur C. Clarke
Foundation of the United States, among other activities.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of
Maryland in 1976, and is a lifelong resident of the Washington, D.C. area.
