Terra Has Been Launched

[18 Dec 1999] Terra was sucessfully launched this morning from Vandenburg Air Force Base after a 20 minute delay.

As described by NASA “Terra (formerly EOS AM-1) is the flagship of the Earth Observing System, a series of spacecraft that represent the next landmark steps in NASA’s leadership role to observe the Earth from the unique vantage point of space.”
