Unfortunately, a series of mishaps with our video edit system led to the cancellation of today’s transmission of an ESA Exchanges programme within “Europe by Satellite”. The ESA TV Service would like to apologise for this change without notice; the Artemis item will now be transmitted next week, on Friday 18 May 2001. We are also working on an upgrade of the edit system so that such cancellations will not occur any more in the future.

Tomorrow, an ESA TV Footage feed of replays from last week will be transmitted, as follows:

Wednesday 09 May 2001

11:00-12:00 GMT

Please note the transmission parameters on Eutelsat W1 below.

The ESA TV footage feed comprises of the following 2 items:

Claudie Andre-Deshays – prepares for her mission (15 minutes, 11:00-11:15 GMT)

In October 2001, ESA’s French woman astronaut Claudie Andre-Deshays, will be travelling to the International Space Station on a Soyouz taxi flight — the same opportunity which took place recently by the US American Dennis Tito.
This programme items includes a presentation of Ms Andre-Deshays, and new footage of her training for this mission in Star City, as well as images of her Perseus mission to Mir, in 1996.

The 4-minute A-roll is complemented by a 10-minute B-roll.

Satellite Navigation and the Car (15 minutes, 11:15-11:30 GMT)

This is the third story in a four part series about satellite navigation, which looks at the benefits that satellite navigation can have in everyday motoring. It features the latest technology from Wetzlar in Germany of in-car satellite navigation systems and how this can benefit the driver in finding the way round unknown cities.

The 3 minute A-roll is complemented by a longer B-roll with clean international sound.
